Missions Being Put on my Heart

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

I am 17 right now and a senior in high school. Junior year and senior year are when there is a lot of pressure put on what you are going to do with your life, are you going to go to college? Straight into work? What do you want to do with your life? Nearing the end of junior year, I began to really consider what I wanted to do. I had gone through a lot of options in my mind of things I could do and what I wanted to pursue and there was a day I just started to get overwhelmed with all the options. I ended up going on a run to clear my mind and ended up listening to worship music and trying to redirect my stress onto God. I took a moment on this run to look at the sunset and just got this strong word of "missions". In that moment it just made sense. I have such a longing to travel and a strong love for Jesus and wanting others to enjoy the joy that you get from having a relationship with him. I felt a sense on peace and excitement of feeling like I finally had some idea of where to start and what I wanted to do once I graduate. I began looking into different mission's programs and talking to others trying to figure out what was the best option for me. I had seen something about YWAM somewhere and started doing research to see if that was an option for me. My dad had actually taught courses there and multiple people that I talked to seemed to have connections there. There were so many signs and after talking to someone on campus and lots of prayer I decided to take a leap of faith and apply. I went through the application process, and I was accepted! Everything just aligned perfectly and watching everything play out how he planned it to had been a blessing and I am so excited to continue to see him move!

Here is a picture of the sunset I was looking at the night God put missions onto my heart.
